All of us have been impacted or will be impacted by cancer at some point. For our family, Seamus’ Nanna (Judy, my mother in law) has fought breast and uterine cancer but is thankfully now in remission. She is only in her mid 60’s. Seamus’ Grandpa (Bruce, my Dad) is currently undergoing chemo and immunotherapy for oesophageal cancer. He is just 65. He was diagnosed around Christmas 2022 and his prognosis was not certain. It was the definition of “worst Christmas ever!” However, he is responding beautifully to treatment and he and Mum are living a full life, travelling regularly. It hasn’t slowed him down, he still mucks around with chainsaws and other hazardous machinery, PICC line be damned!
With the sad and scary bits out of the way, Seamus and I are excited to announce that we’re taking part in Lunchbox Rally 2024! Lunchbox Rally is the newest fundraising project by the people who do Sh*tbox Rally and Mystery Box Rally, these projects have raised over $42 million for Cancer Council in the last 14 years!
Part of the participation is that all teams need to raise $3,000. These funds go to Cancer Council and we are proud to be doing our part to support such a worthy charity. Judy and Bruce are proof that research works and cancer treatment gets better all the time, still though, we have a long road to go as humanity.
The fundraising is the hard part so we would very much appreciate it if you could donate to the cause and help us on our journey!
Lunchbox Rally is not a race – it’s a fun adventure. Each night will be spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the days achievements. It’s an incredible opportunity to see some of Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make new friends!
Lunchbox Rally 2025 will see teams set off from Broken Hill and return to Broken Hill 4 days later! Each night we will be stopping in remote outback locations to enjoy bush hospitality at its finest and be making memories that will last a life time.
Lunch Box Rally is a dedicated fundraising event for cancer research with funds going to Cancer Council.
Cancer Council is one of the largest non-government funders of cancer research in Australia. We conduct and fund research studies across all cancers and all stages of the cancer journey.
Thanks to the community funds raised such as Lunch Box Rally we can fund world-class research that reduces the impact of cancer for everyone.
$50 million over the past 15 years has been raised by Box Rallies to date, supporting ground-breaking projects such as:
These projects wouldn’t be possible without your support.
